We ate meat twice a day, and on holidays thrice, moving through the day from a bacon fry-up to a ham-sandwich to a steak with mushroom sauce. These words marked out the evenings of my childhood. I write this review from a place of some bias.

Peter Singer is sometimes called 'the world’s most influential living philosopher' although he thinks that if that is true, it doesn't say much for all the other living philosophers around today.
